How to Play Tug of War with Your Dog

Tug of war is a fun game for dogs and their owners. But like any other game, there are rules.

Here is a video demonstrating the right way to play tug with your dog:

Form Object

If you play tug of war with your dog, follow these rules:

1) Reserve one specific toy for this game.

2) You must start and end the game, not the dog. Put the toy away when you are done.

3) The dog must be trained to release the toy on command

4) The dog must never let his teeth come in contact with any part of your body. End the play session immediately if his teeth touch you, even by mistake.

5) Do not play tug with an aggressive dog (i.e. a dog who has growled at, snapped at, or bitten anyone).

6) Small children should not play tug of war with dogs.
