Chris and Shandra Dettbarn have been actively involved with animal welfare in Austin and surrounding areas more than a decade. Shandra volunteered for the Austin ASPCA and for Austin Wildlife Rescue, Inc. She was also employed by Wildlife Rescue, Inc. in Austin, responsible for the rescue and rehabilitation of thousands of wildlife mammals and birds. Shandra is a Licensed Wildlife rehabilitator for Texas Parks and Wildlife and is a Member of the IWRC (International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council).
But dog training became her life’s calling when she began to work with shelter and rescue dogs of all breeds and ages, quickly developing a track record of success with dogs that their owners had given up on, including dogs with fear and aggression issues.
After serving her internship at Canine Dimensions and graduating with high distinction, Shandra was accepted as a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). She is a Certified Dog Behavior Advisor and is a CGC evaluator for the America Kennel Club (AKC) as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
